Cookapalooza Part 1

Last Saturday, a small group of my girl friends and I got together to have a cooking party. The goal? To make as many meals for our freezers as we could manage in a day to try to get ahead of our meal planning for the coming busy months and to try to cook some meals in a cost-effective way.

So what did we cook?

Two 9 x 13 pans of chicken pot pie each
Two goat and feta cheese quiches each
Approx 10 individual burritos each
Two pots of carrot-ginger soup each
3 containers of meat sauce each
4 containers of pizza topping each
6 pizza pockets each
12 salmon wellingtons each

The total cost of the food for all four us was $500, so $125 per family. We calculated that we were spending $1.60 per serving of food. Not bad!

I'll post some of the recipes in the future and some more details about how we get these days organized, but for the purposes of this post, it's enough to say how much I appreciate these opportunities to cook and bond with close friends.
